Практически на всей территории Томской области существует проблема качества питьевой воды. В природных источниках воды повсеместно превышены концентрации железа, марганца, других металлов. В таежных и болотных реках - значительные концентрации фенолов. В основных водных артериях - Томи и Оби - большие концентрации техногенных загрязнений, поступающих из соседних областей. Далее эти загрязнения попадают в Арктический бассейн, заражая его уникальную экосистему.
