Крепость могла не сохраниться до наших дней, зато Заячий остров вполне мог быть штаб-квартирой петербургского «Зенита». Дело в том, что в ноября 1925 года было принято постановление Ленинградского совета о разрушении Петропавловской крепости и возведении на ее месте стадиона. К счастью, строители, как обычно, подошли к делу неспешно, а решение было вскоре отменено.
