АВС-метод используется как вспомогательная система, в рамках которой образуется подсистема счетов управленческого бухгалтерского учёта. На практике применяются два варианта данного метода: интегрированный (автономная система счетов управленческого учёта) и адаптивный (на базе действующего Плана счетов бухгалтерского учёта, двойной записи на счётах 2-го и 3-го порядка, счетов-экранов). Применение счетов-экранов повышает «гибкость» учёта – аннулирование одного и введение другого счёта-экрана не затрагивает всю учётную систему, но позволяет получить ценную для принятия управленческих решений информацию.
