Великобритания богата водными ресурсами. Практически на всей территории страны кроме некоторых юго-восточных районов, количество выпадающих осадков превышает испарение и поэтому развита густая сеть полноводных рек.
Самые крупные из них Северн (391 км) и Темза (331 км) . Темза — это важнейшая река Англии. Исток её находится в отрогах холмов Котсуолд, а исток Северна находится в центральном Уэльсе. Бассейны этих рек граничат между собой.
В бассейне Темзы проживает около 1/5 всего населения страны.
Только река Темза протекает в черте Лондона.
